BIKERS' BRILLIANT BURNS BASH

On Saturday 22nd February, Wanlockhead-based motorcycle club 1531 MCC held their very first 'Evening o' Burns'. The night, dedicated to the Bard and all things Scottish, was held at the Wanlockhead Inn and featured performances from Dave Gibb, Molly McTeir, Chris McTeir and Kym Clements. Legendary folk singer Dave kicked off the night with the song 'Green Grow the Rashes O', with audience participation actively encouraged. Dave was followed by singer Molly, whose beautiful voice ensured there wasn't a dry eye in the house. After a short interval, Chris commenced the second half by expertly addressing the haggis. More songs and poetry followed with Kym ending the night with the Burns poem 'Pegasus at Wanlockhead'. The night was a great success and very well attended by both villagers and visitors to the area. 1531 MCC would like to thank Wanlockhead Community Council for helping fund the evening and the Wanlockhead Inn for providing the venue.

This was funded through the Clyde Micro Grant Scheme, which is supported by SSE and Foundation Scotland this benefits communities to create and foster a sense of community.
